Using HCI Logo'd Encrypted Thumb Drives - to protect data being transported between systems, or between work and home, we're requiring that USB "thumb drives" are encrypted.

The drives HCI has purchased are Kingston 4000 Data Travelers, and to easily identify them as being approved, they have the HCI insignia on them and are something close to the Huntsman Cancer Institute blue.  (As close as the manufacturer could get, anyway)

How these drives work:

1. You put the thumb drive in the USB port on your PC, Mac or Linux system, and a read-only CD drive appears called "DT 4000", and after opening the CD drive, you’ll see a program called "DT4000_Launcher" in the root of the folder, or an equivalent under the "Mac" folder, or "linux".

2. Starting the program the first time will prompt you to assign a password to the device, put your name in as the owner, etc.    We recommend a complex password of at least 8 characters, including UPPER CASE, lowercase and numeric elements.

3. Once the password is entered, another drive device will appear, and that is the encrypted data area where you can put your data or files to be transported back and forth, from home to work, and so forth.
