How can I tell if my laptop is encrypted?
We recommend using the built-in encryption technologies that come with both Mac and PC laptops, which is FileVault for Macs, Bitlocker for Windows.
For Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 laptops, if Bitlocker is protecting the hard drive, you should see a "padlock" icon when you navigate to the C drive. (On Windows 7 systems, select Start - Computer, or on Windows 10 use File Explorer (located on the task bar)
On Mac laptops you can tell if the hard drive is encrypted by going to System Preferences - Privacy & Security - FileVault. It will indicate if Filevault is turned on or not.
