Changing UU Campus Information Systems (CIS) Email configuration, forwarding, etc (for HCI Email users)

UU Campus IT automatically sets up an email account for all students, staff & faculty, located on the central UMail email system.  In the UMail system there sometimes are duplicate entries for HCI Email system users, one for HCI Email and one for the UMail system (sometimes called HSC email).

To avoid potential confusion and/or lost email, HCI Email users can "hide" this central mailbox so people don't erroneously send email to it, as well as set up forwarding for any email that comes in at your Firstname.Lastname@utah.edu email address.

Steps:

1.  Logon to the uNID Account Tools site - https://unid.utah.edu with (most likely) your Kronos username & password (or CIS username/password, if you happen to know it.)

2.  On the right side of the screen is UMail Account information and options.

a. Email Alias (OPTIONAL) - You can create an email "alias" for any email coming in with a ...@utah.edu address (NOTE: must be in the format Firstname.Lastname@utah.edu)

b. Forwarding - enter your Firstname.Lastname@hci.utah.edu email address and select Forward EmailThe UNID system will send a confirmation email to your HCI email, where you'll need to retrieve a confirmation code and paste it into the UNID page to complete the process.

c. UMail Address Book - hide your Umail email address in the UMail Address Book.  (Note - this only hides your UMail address, but your HCI email address will remain in the central campus Address Book.)

That's it!

If you have any problems logging onto the UNID site, the quickest way to get help is to call the campus IT help desk at x1-4000.   Ofcourse, you're always free to contact the HCI IT help desk at x5-0330.
